Romeo Optometry Doctors



Dr. Linda Bathe graduated from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 1985 and was awarded The College of Optometrists of Ontario Medal for General Proficiency. She started a solo practice in Stratford in June 1985 which has grown into Romeo Optometry.


Dr. Bathe graduated from Northwestern Secondary School in Stratford and has enjoyed living and raising a family here. She has served on The Gallery Stratford Board of Directors and has been a member of The Stratford Rotary Club since 1996.


Dr. Bathe volunteers for The College of Optometrists of Ontario and The Canadian Examiners in Optometry serving on numerous committees including one term as President of the College. She enjoys practicing general Optometry including pediatrics, binocular vision, contact lenses and laser vision consulting and co-management. She always welcomes new patients.



Dr. Kelley Jacobs completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry Degrees from the University of Waterloo in 1995. While in school, she was the Class President, graduated on the Dean’s Honour List and also received the Canadian Association of Optometrists Award of Merit.

Dr. Jacobs completed an externship at the OMNI Eye Clinic in Atlanta Georgia where she worked alongside a glaucoma specialist, a retinal specialist and a cataract surgeon.


After graduating Dr. Jacobs began working as an associate and in 1997 became a partner at Romeo Optometry. She has been a supervisor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, overseeing upper year students in their clinical work, and is currently an Assessor for the Quality Assurance Committee with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.


Dr. Jacobs works closely with TLC Laser Eye Centres and is well trained in laser vision comanagement.




Dr. Heather Blain graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Honours Physiology, and received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 2003, graduating on the Dean’s Honours List.

Dr. Blain welcomes all patients but her specific clinic interests include pediatrics, binocular vision and bifocal contact lenses. As an active member of the Optometry profession, she is part of the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and has served as a committee member with the College of Optometrists of Ontario.


Living in Stratford for 8 years with her young family, she enjoys all that the community has to offer, and extends a warm welcome to newcomers to the area, and all new patients.

Ann, Dispenser

Ann joined Romeo Optometry in 2012 after 16 years’ experience in the optical field. She has an artist’s sense of style and colour, and truly loves glasses! Her duties include frame selection, fitting and repairs. Ann is also a talented merchandiser and is responsible for the eye catching displays in the dispensary.

Elizabeth, Receptionist

Elizabeth (Liz) joined Romeo Optometry in 1995 with 5 years’ experience working for Optometrists in Brantford and St. Catharines. She is a master typist and an always friendly face at our front desk.

Frances, Assistant / Receptionist

Frances joined Romeo Optometry in 2010. She graduated with honours from the Medix School’s Medical Office Assistant Program and has completed courses with the CAO Optometric Assistant Program in Office Procedures, Pretesting and Contact Lenses.

Joan, Dispenser

Joan joined Dr. Bathe in her solo practice in 1988 when her job included all administrative duties of the office. Today, Joan is the lead in the Frame Room doing frame selection, fitting, repairs and most of the buying. Patients respect her excellent sense of style and her honest and direct advice.

Marlene, Assistant / Receptionist

Marlene joined Romeo Optometry in 2014 after many years in industrial administration and efficiency.  Her duties include pretesting, taking a medical history, ocular imaging and all front desk duties.

Mary Ellen, Receptionist

Mary Ellen has been the ‘rock’ at our front desk since 1998. Before joining Romeo Optometry she worked in banking for 19 years and has always enjoyed working with people.

Maureen, Assistant

Maureen joined Romeo Optometry in 2006 as a receptionist. Since 2011 she has worked assisting the doctors with pretesting, taking a medical history and imaging with the fundus camera and the Ocular Coherence Tomographer.

Shane, Office Manager

Shane Jacobs joined the practice in 2006 as a dispensing assistant.  In 2013, Shane also took on the role of office manager. In addition to general accounting duties, Shane looks after the contact lens and frame stock, and does general repairs to keep the office running smoothly.

Tanya, Certified Optometric Assistant

Tanya has worked at Romeo Optometry since 2003. She is a certified Optometric Assistant (2004).  Tanya’s many duties include chairside assisting and ocular imaging. Tanya also has a special interest in children’s binocular vision. She runs an in office training clinic for children with binocular vision problems
